                                          Monbulk (Australian hybrid)

The Early Morn African Violet Group was formed in March 1971 by a group of people interested in the growing and cultivation of African violets.  From this small beginning the Group has continued to thrive and just like the early members, current members are hybridizing new varieties of this popular houseplant.

Meetings of the Group are held twice a month at Alvie Hall, corner of High Street and Alvie Roads, Mount Waverley.  Meeting times are 8.00 p.m. (doors open at 7.30 p.m.) on the first Monday of each month and at 10.00 a.m. (doors open at 9.30 a.m.) on the third Wednesday of each month.  No meetings are held in January.

At each meeting members hear about different topics in relation to successfully growing African violets and growing supplies such as soil, pots and fertilizer are also available at the meetings.

Visitors are welcome to attend and learn about this ‘magnificent obsession’ – one plant is never enough.

On the third week-end of November each year we hold our Annual Show and Plant Sale at the Mt Waverley Community Centre, corner Miller Crescent and Stephensons Road, Mt Waverley.
